Universal has just issued a PRESS RELEASE announcing plans to bring the two (already) cult-followed British comedies “Shaun of the Dead” & “Hot Fuzz” to Blu-ray Disc on September 22nd. Both films star Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and I’ll say are two of my personal favorite comedies from the past decade. Tech specs on both titles include full 1080p Hi-Def video on BD-50 discs with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio. The two new improvements here over the previously available HD-DVD releases are the disc capacities and obviously the huge improvement of DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio over Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 on the ill-fated format releases. A PRE-ORDER listing is already available for “Shaun of the Dead” which carries a $19.99 price tag — while no pre-order listing exists yet for “Hot Fuzz“. Stay tuned and we will keep you updated there. As for the bonus materials, each title will include the DVD/HD-DVD ports plus the addition of BD-Live as well as redux “U-Control” this time using Bonus View to deliver Picture-In-Picture. Below you’ll find full details regarding bonus materials for each film (taken from the PRESS RELEASE).
