UPDATE: Two of the titles (“Heat” & “Logan’s Run“) are now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon with $20.49 price tags each. Stay tuned for an update with the pre-order for “The Negotiator“.

Warner has just sent out an e-mail with a Trade Ad (view HERE) announcing plans to bring 3 action films to Blu-ray Disc on November 3rd. The titles are first and foremost “Heat” starring Al Pacino & Robert De Niro, second “The Negotiator” starring Kevin Spacey & Samuel L. Jackson. Third we also have the cult-classic “Logan’s Run” starring Michael York. Tech specs I’m assuming (judging from the logos in the trade ad) will include Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround sound mixes and full 1080p Hi-Def using the VC-1 codec. No word on disc sizes yet, bonus materials but stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.

  2. YESSSSS! HEAT! Been waiting for that one since day one! Can’t wait to get my hands on it!

  3. :) This rules, remember me seeing the film canisters for “Heat” in that super cold room they keep the film in at Warner?!?! Let’s hope it’s in good shape inside that canister

  4. Some UK sites are reporting that Mann oversaw a new master for Heat. Can’t wait.

Please let this have lossless audio. Fingers crossed.

  5. charle: As I mention in my more recent post about “North by Northwest”… We saw the film canisters for it at Warner’s facility and we also saw the canisters for “Heat” which got our James Segars ESPECIALLY excited and even more excited when I instant messaged him the great news — hence his comment above, first one! :)

  6. Charle:

I remember hearing rumblings about the Mann approved remaster of Heat. In fact, I can recall hearing something about it being a 4K scan, which would be in line with what Justin and I saw at MPI/Warner’s facility in the archives and “ready room” (just outside the sealed scanning lab.

Either way, Heat should look good, if not fantastic. I think it’s Mann’s best film by far, as well as his best shot film — but I do have a great affinity towards Collateral.

  7. If Warner does Heat the justice it deserves, we may have a new demo disc. The bank robbery scene, via the DTS track found on the Special Edition, is absolutely INSANE.

I also look forward to Negotiator, which is a classic Jackson/Spacey film.
