Universal has plans to bring the 1998 film adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson‘s “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” to Blu-ray Disc on February 2nd, 2010. This title was previously available from the studio on the ill-fated HD-DVD format. The film itself was Directed by Terry Gilliam and stars Johnny Depp (portraying Hunter S. Thompson) and co-stars Benicio Del Toro (as “Dr. Gonzo“). Tech specs include full 1080p Hi-Def video on a BD-50 (50 gigabyte dual-layered Blu-ray Disc) and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. Bonus materials are a bit iffy here, they are set to include just “Spotlight on Location” and not the other DVD ports as well as a BD-Live portal (Basic Download Center).
UPDATE: This title is now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon with a $18.99 price tag.
