Warner gives more proof that “The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy” is coming to Blu-ray in April 2010

Warner (New Line) has just issued a trade ad (pictured above) that serves as even further proof that they are in fact bringing “The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy” to Blu-ray Disc on April 6th, 2010. As you’ll see in the ad, this will feature a Digital Copy of each film (in it’s theatrical form) and contain bonus materials well over 7 hours in length with BD-Live title specific interactivity as well. The trilogy (box set) is already available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon with a $69.99 price tag.
UPDATE: For those true fans out there curious what the bonus materials will exactly contain, how many discs it will be on and so forth I’ve contained a complete bit of info taken from the press site, click on the continue reading below to see this, as I had to hide it from the front page as it runs RATHER lengthy.

So, the bonus are not in HD ? :s
And just the english audio will be available ? (i mean, not french one for example ^^ ?)
Anyway, it’s already nice we have a lot of different languages for the subtitles (and french for me lol).

I’m guessing that no-one would know yet how it’s gonna be packaged?? Individual cases? Slim style as in Austin Powers??

If I had to guess, I’m gonna have to go with WB’s three-disc elite cases (The Dark Knight, Watchmen, etc) for each of the films. That is of course unless they decide to do a custom tailored interior package that unfolds and secures the nine discs. However, I think that having three, three-disc elite cases (film, bonus, DC in each case) might be the most efficient, but then again, perhaps not the most desirable.
At any rate, we’ll keep our ear to the ground and our eyes open. If we find out more about the set, we’ll be sure to let everyone know.
