FOX announces both of “The X-Files” films are coming to Blu-ray Disc this December with Bonus View & BD-Live

FOX has just formally announced (in two separate PRESS RELEASES) the upcoming December 2nd release date for “The X-Files: Fight the Future” (from 1998) and the recent “The X-Files: I Want to Believe” (from this year, 2008). Both titles are set to receive DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio and the 2008 title has been confirmed to be in AVC MPEG-4 as far as technical specs go. No word yet on if they will be on BD-50 or BD-25 discs and what video codec the first film will be in but we’ll keep you posted. Each film will contain a interactive BD-J authored experience (via Bonus View Picture-In-Picture) that has visual commentary with the show Creator Chris Carter. Most all of the bonus materials included on each film are in High Definition and the newer film (“I Want to Believe“) will feature FOX‘s very first BD-Live (internet enabled) effort.
