DC’s “Batman The Dark Knight Returns Part 1″ on Blu-ray in September

The 2012 DC Universe original animated film “Batman The Dark Knight Returns Part 1” is coming to Blu-ray Disc on September 25th via Warner Home Video. This is based on the original 4-part limited comic book series “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns” written by Frank Miller which was originally published back in 1986. The story will be split up into two animated films with “Part 2” expected to come sometime in 2013. The voice cast for this includes Peter Weller (as “Batman” / “Bruce Wayne”), David Selby (as “James Gordon”), Ariel Winter (as “Robin” / “Carrie Kelley”), Wade Williams (as “Harvey Dent” / “Two-Face”) and Michael Mckean (as “Dr. Bartholomew Wolper”). It is known that the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and UltraViolet digital copy of the film included.

UPDATE: This title is now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon with a $17.49 price tag. Tech specs for the release include full 1080p Hi-Def video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio. The bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.

It is ten years after an aging Batman has retired, and Gotham City has sunk deeper into decadence and lawlessness. Now, when his city needs him most, the Dark Knight returns in a blaze of glory. And after facing off against his two greatest enemies, the Joker and Two-Face, for the final time, Batman finds himself in mortal combat with his former ally, Superman, in a battle that only one of them will survive.
