The 2012 Tanya Wexler directed film “Hysteria” starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hugh Dancy is coming to Blu-ray Disc on September 18th via Sony Pictures Classics according to an early alert to retailers. The film co-stars Jonathan Pryce, Rupert Everett and Felicity Jones. This romantic comedy has a very interesting plot that involves how Mortimer Granville invented the world’s first electromechanical vibrator in the name of medical science. Yes, you read that correctly. The vibrator obviously would go on to become a sex toy, however it was originally invented to treat female hysteria — hence the film’s title. Tech specs for the release include full 1080p Hi-Def video and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The title is already available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon but it’s currently carrying one outrageous $79.46 price tag. Regardless of that price you can go ahead and pre-order it and Amazon will honor the eventual price change once it drops to likely around $29.96 (its price over on Wal-Mart‘s website). There’s no info yet regarding the bonus materials set to be included on the release but stay tuned. Below after the break you’ll find the trailer for the film.
