According to an early alert to retailers, Sony (not Lionsgate, as Amazon is indicating) has plans to bring the 2009 Terry Gilliam film “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” starring the late Heath Ledger (in his final on screen role) to Blu-ray Disc on April 27th. No tech specs yet or word on bonus materials but we expect more information on this later this week from PR for the studio so stay tuned. The film also stars Christopher Plummer, Lily Cole, Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell — with the latter of the three actors filling in for Ledger in the lead character’s role.
UPDATE: Sure enough, just as I said there would be, there is now a PRE-ORDER listing available for this over at Amazon which is carrying a $24.49 price tag. As I had previously reported, this does not appear to be owned for home video rights by Lionsgate, in fact it is property of Sony. I apologize for reporting the wrong studio to you but I blame the person over at Amazon who has listed it incorrectly on the pre-order listing.
