UPDATE: We’ve added cover art for “Star Trek: The Next Generation Motion Picture Collection” above and you can find the full size view HERE.
Paramount has just issued a PRESS RELEASE revealing plans to bring more “Star Trek” franchise releases to Blu-ray Disc. This may be a bit confusing since it’s for another season of the original show, the other involves 4 movies from the franchise that haven’t been released yet and the last is the movies previously available in a box set coming out as stand-alone releases. With that being said, I’ll split things up below accordingly. Keep in mind the release date for ALL of the releases mentioned is September 22nd.
First, “Star Trek: The Original Series – Season Two” will be coming out in a seven-disc set with full 1080p (4×3) Hi-Def video, DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio sound. Below you’ll find details regarding bonus materials and such, taken from the PRESS RELEASE.
The STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES Season Two Blu-ray is the definitive collection of the second season of the legendary series in pristine high definition. The seven-disc set features all 26 episodes, including the celebrated “The Trouble with Tribbles”, with new seamless branching that allows fans to toggle between newly remastered versions with enhanced special effects or the episodes as they were originally broadcast. The Blu-ray collection also includes hours of featurettes, interactive bonus features and new clips via BD-Live and every disc is Mobile Blu enabled, allowing iPhone users to turn their phones into a Blu-ray remote control and download exclusive content to their iPhones.

Second, “Star Trek: The Next Generation Motion Picture Collection” will be coming out in a five-disc box set with full 1080p Hi-Def video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround sound. The films included are “Star Trek: Generations“, “Star Trek: First Contact“, “Star Trek: Insurrection” and “Star Trek: Nemesis“. None of these titles are yet available for pre-order but you can bet we’ll keep you updated as to when they do become available. Stay tuned and I apologize for this lengthy post, Paramount decided to drop this bomb all in one PRESS RELEASE so technically you have them to blame there.

Can’t wait for First Contact. That’s the best of the Next Generation series IMO.

Thank you Paramount. First Contact is the best. Too bad they didn’t make a Voyager movie. Glad to have these coming out!
