To celebrate “Black History Month” next year, Warner has plans to bring the films “The Color Purple” (from 1985 directed by Steven Spielberg) and “Malcolm X” (from 1992 directed by Spike Lee) to Blu-ray Disc on January 25th, 2011. We just received a trade ad (pictured HERE) announcing these. We have no real information yet about the releases aside from it appears they will obviously be “DigiBook“-style releases with 40-page booklets included for each. Tech specs will include full 1080p Hi-Def video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. No word yet regarding bonus materials but stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated!
UPDATE: Both titles are now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon with each carrying a $24.49 price tag.
