The 2012 Tim Burton directed film “Frankenweenie” is coming to both Blu-ray Disc (in 2D) and Blu-ray 3D on January 8th, 2013 according to an early alert to retailers. The film, not to be confused with the 1984 live-action short film, is a stop-motion retelling of the story and features the voice talents of Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron and Conchata Ferrell. Tech specs include full 1080p Hi-Def video and DTS-HD Master Audio sound — presumably in either a 5.1 or 7.1 configuration, although not yet confirmed. The releases will come in the form of “combo pack” with the Blu-ray version getting a DVD of the film included and the Blu-ray 3D version getting a Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy of the film included. Neither version is yet available for pre-order over at Amazon but you can sign up HERE to be notified when the Blu-ray 3D version is available. No details regarding bonus materials yet but stay tuned. Below after the break you’ll find the trailer for the film.
